These trips are still expensive however. Gas is bad enough but the wear and tear on our car with 189k plus miles is really starting to show. Oh well, at least we have a car and can go. I look forward to going and so does Devin actually.
They made this disease diagnosis palatable for an 8 year old and his parents. Kathy Bratt, the NP we see usually, is an absolute doll! She is a type 2 and we can tell when she is having a rough day too. God Bless her for keeping on with what she does. Without her, Devin would have likely died before we unpacked from our trip just before his diagnosis. She insisted in a very nice way that we needed to bring him in to see her that day. She didn't tell us how serious it was until we got there. But when she said that she would wait for us to get there whatever time we would get there, we knew something was going on. Devin would have died within hours if we had NOT brought him in to see her. She knew exactly how to handle Devin so that he would not freak out. . . and that is one heck of a talent.
